Welcome to Skene Primary School

Skene School is situated half a mile west of the village of Kirkton of Skene and just one and a half miles from Westhill. The view from the school playing field is of the Loch of Skene with the Tower Lodges of Dunecht Estate, which are featured in our School logo, in the foreground.

The catchment area includes the villages of Kirkton of Skene and Garlogie and surrounding rural areas. The school liaises closely with the three local primary schools – Crombie, Elrick and Westhill and our local secondary school, Westhill Academy to which the children transfer at the end of Primary 7.

We have two teaching areas. The larger of the two is used by early stages pupils. The main building also contains a multi-purpose hall, two administrative areas, a staff room and a library area. The relocatable unit is presently used as a music room. School meals are prepared on the school premises and served in the hall. Two tarred playing areas and a full sized football pitch allow the children ample space to let off steam. Adjacent to the football pitch is a selection of climbing apparatus and an adventure trail.

Two picnic tables and a bench are available to those children who prefer quieter breaktimes. A playground supervisor is on hand to ensure that the children are safe and integrate socially during their breaks.

Skene School's really good because it's quite small and so you get to know every single person - Ellen, P3
